Get rid of muscle cramps in less than 10 minutes

Muscle cramps are very frustrating and can last for as long as 15 minutes. They cause excruciating pain that doesn't subside easily and for many people cramps ruin sleep. There are many reasons for muscle cramps like electrolyte imbalance in the body, interrupted blood circulation etc. But, they can be easily prevented by following simple things like drinking enough water throughout the day.
Muscles work by relaxing and contracting, and if a muscle does not relax at right intervals it is said to have cramped causing pain. Many people resort to popping pain killers to get rid of the pain, but that’s not a solution to muscle cramps. There are many home remedies you can use that will relieve you from muscle cramps like using an ice pack.
But, if you get a muscle cramp in the middle of the night or your are not at home, you can quick get rid of them by simply massaging the affected area. Apply light pressure and massage the area in a circular motion. Do this for five to ten minutes and you will quickly be relieved. Massaging increases the blood flow to that area and soothes the pain. You can also stretch the muscle immediately. If you get a cramp in your calves, place your foot on the wall and heel on the floor and lean forward towards the wall while keeping the leg straight. Similarly, you can stretch your hamstring muscle by lying flat on the floor and pulling your knees towards your chest.
While these are just temporary methods, it is important to find the cause of your muscle cramps and get it diagnosed immediately by a doctor.

Get instant relief from muscle cramps with turmeric and alum:

Muscle cramps are quite common during the winter season or when you are actively involved in the sports. The excruciating pain and swelling associated with it takes a toll on your health. Although pain relievers in the form of sprays or medications are available in the market, these might not provide relief in the long-term. This is where natural remedies that are quick in action, safe and easily available in the household come into play. One such effective home remedy to relieve muscle cramps is a mixture or turmeric and alum.
What makes this mixture effective against muscle cramps?
Turmeric is one of nature’s most powerful healers (antiseptic) that is widely used as a pain reliever. And alum is well-known for its soothing and blood thinning property. A mixture of these two commonly available ingredients when applied over the affected area helps relieve muscle cramps naturally.
How to use this mixture?
A mixture of turmeric and alum is a quick and effective way to combat muscle cramps quickly and without any side-effects. Here is how you can prepare this mixture.
1. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and few drops of water (preferably over a rough surface)
2. Mix these ingredients and rub a small piece of alum (available in the market) into the mixture, in such a way that a thick paste is formed. (The mixture should be light in colour as compared to the original colour of turmeric powder)
4. Apply this paste over the affected area (remember not to massage the area with this paste) and leave it to dry.
5. Do this at least twice a day for two days to get rid of pain and swelling associated with muscle cramps.
