Your skin, being the largest organ and the most sensitive part of your body, is susceptible to skin injury, warts, boils and wounds, especially during summers. According to Ayurveda, heat boils are mainly caused due to excessive pitta (excessive heat production) in the body. Additionally, threading or waxing to get rid of unwanted facial hair or bacterial infection due to excessive sweating causes your skin to bear the brunt in the form of boils. Although it is always not possible to prevent heat boils, taking the natural route to fight against them might help you. One such miraculous and easy remedy to treat boils and wounds is paan or betel leaves.

Betel leaves – how do they work?
Due to its wide range of medicinal properties, betel leaves have been used in Ayurveda to treat skin problems. These leaves are packed with anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial compounds that help in removing toxins from the affected area. Additionally, they also prevent recurrence of skin inflammation.
How to use betel leaves?
Take 2-3 fresh betel leaves and warm them over a heated pan till they are slightly soft. While warming these leaves, put few drops of castor oil over the leaves. Now, place these leaves over the boil. This will rupture the boil and drain the pus oozing from the boil. Clean the area with cotton or a clean cloth. Alternatively the juice of betel leaves, when applied over a wound, provides relief within two days.
