A fellow Holistic Nutritionist shared this recipe with me recently as we discussed the benefits of gentle cleansing in the spring.
This simple beverage blend packs a powerful punch when it comes to nourishing and cleansing the body. Apple cider vinegar and lemon juice enhance digestion, promote mineral absorption from food, and assist the body to flush out toxins.
Both cinnamon and apple cider vinegar have been shown to normalize blood sugar levels and lower the effects of high fat meals. The addition of honey to the blend adds sweetness, but also provides important vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals that nourish the body’s cells.
Overall, this gentle cleansing drink can help you to nourish and detoxify your body, normalize weight, and balance blood sugar in a safe and enjoyable way. Of course, healthy eating, fresh air, exercise and adequate sleep are necessary for optimal health and longevity too!
Apple Cider Vinegar Cleansing Drink:
Ingredients:
- 1 Glass filtered, unchlorinated water
- 2 Tbs organic apple cider vinegar (Unpasteurized, raw, and “with the mother” is best)
- 2 Tbs freshly sqeezed organic lemon juice
- 1 Tbs raw, unpasteurized honey
- 1 tsp organic cinnamon (Ceylon variety)
Preparation:
Mix together and drink first thing in the morning (or 2-3 times per day).
